Frequently Asked Questions

Much like Lightroom presets, Capture One Styles are collections of pre-set, stackable, and customizable image adjustments. They enable you to apply complex edits—such as color grading, contrast, and tone—to your images with a single click. These styles integrate settings from multiple tools, simplifying workflows and helping you achieve desired looks for consistent, creative, or stylistic results.

Capture One style brushes are specialized, preset-driven masking tools that allow for rapid, local adjustments. When used, they automatically generate a new, named layer, enabling you to apply pre-configured settings with brush strokes only where you want them.

In contrast to Lightroom Classic's local adjustment brushes, where you must select a brush or mask and then choose the desired preset from a dropdown menu, these brushes function similarly to Photoshop brush-on actions. Simply click an option, and brush non-destructive changes over specific parts of your images!

Our “Effects” styles utilize the latest C1 Smart features like AI Masking or Adaptive features, and thus are only compatible with versions of C1 16.5 (2024) and later. They will work in current up-to-date C1 software. These work similarly to Lightroom Adaptive presets.

Once imported, you can locate custom styles via the Styles & Presets Tool under the Adjustments tab in Capture One. Hover to preview looks on your image, click to apply, and re-click to remove. Full looks or tool options that affect the same specific tool adjustment will automatically overwrite as you apply! Adjust applied adjustments via layers. Reset all changes via Adjustments > Reset or (Ctrl + R – Windows, Cmd + R – Mac).

Yes, you can use Capture One on Apple devices, specifically iPad and iPhone (iOS 15 or later). To import custom styles simply download the .costylepack to your Files (or Airdrop the .costylepack to your iOS device) and select "Open in Capture One" to import them.

Unfortunately, as of 2025, Capture One has stated “we have no plans to develop Capture One Mobile for Android.”
